GENERAL INFO

ADVANTAGES OF CMH

Inexpensive airfares

Columbus is located right in the middle of an area where most of the large cities are served by airports that are major hub airports. At these airports, 60-80% of the flights are controlled by one airline. It is this fact that gives CMH an advantage over all other airports in the region. At Port Columbus, the largest percentage of flights controlled by one airline is about 25% (Delta currently holds this title with US Airways and America West close behind). This diversity of airlines servicing the airport has been the supporting factor in Port Columbus' lead in the region as a relatively inexpensive market. There are currently 23 airlines serving CMH. This large number of airlines provides for competitive ticket prices.

Heavily populated marketplace

20 million people live within a 200 mile radius (a drive of approxiamately three hours) of CMH. Last year, over 6 million people travelled through CMH.

Big market airport/small airport atmosphere

CMH is large enough to attract all of the major airlines, yet it is not too large and overbearing for the traveler. There are three concourses with a total of 32 gates. None of the gates are more than a four or five minute walk from the nearest baggage claim area or ticket counter.
